Exotic species can offer owners an out-of-the-ordinary and fun pet. It is important to provide your exotic pet(s) with proper nutrition, housing and adequate lighting. Many times health problems arise in these pets from either improper or inadequate nutrition or housing and lighting that does not provide what the pet needs.

We offer routine medicine and surgery, dentistry, nail, beak, teeth and wing trimming. Many times, especially in avian (bird) species, disease is not apparent until the patient is very ill. This is because in nature a bird that acts sick or injured may be targeted by a predator, so they will hide their illness until they cannot cover it up anymore. This is why it is very important to treat many exotic species the minute you detect any problems.

A thorough history, along with the exam, is essential to help determine the cause of a problem. Sometimes blood work, radiographs and cultures are necessary to get a diagnosis. It is also important to transport these pets in a safe and warm environment to minimize additional stress.
